Tufa Shesh i Zi refers to a high-quality expression of Shesh i Zi, Albania’s flagship indigenous red grape, cultivated on the sun-drenched hillsides of Lundër (near Tirana) by the boutique Tufa Winery. This late-ripening variety produces medium-to-full-bodied, food-friendly red wines that are deeply fruit-forward with soft tannins and earthy undertones.

Drinkability
Grapes are hand-picked late in the season to ensure optimal sugar levels and phenolic ripeness.
The juice undergoes alcoholic fermentation, typically in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by a prolonged period of skin maceration to extract rich color and tannin
Followed by aging in oak barrels for 24 months, followed by bottle refinement, which adds complexity and structure to the final product.

Ripe forest fruits like blackberries, black cherries, plums, and subtle hints of sweet spice.
Palate
Full body with a velvety, supple texture. It is highly approachable with moderate tannins and a well-balanced acidity that provides an elegant finish.

Shesh i Zi, the indigenous red grape from the Erzeni Valley near Tirana, is a full-bodied, fruit-forward, and somewhat rustic wine. It pairs exceptionally well with robust Mediterranean and Balkan flavors, including grilled meats, roasted lamb, and traditional Albanian dishes like tavë kosi (baked lamb with yogurt) or savory meat byrek.
