From Wimborne to the Wine Estates of Spain: Casa Di Vini in The Sunday Times

There are moments in this work that stop you in your tracks. Earlier this year, The Sunday Times ran a feature on Bodegas Valduero, one of the most respected estates in Ribera del Duero. We were proud to be named as their distributor, importing and supplying their wines to the trade right here in the UK.
Seeing a producer you believe in celebrated at that level is a quiet but genuine pleasure. It also felt like the right moment to introduce Valduero properly, and to explain why they have a place in our range.
About Bodegas Valduero
Bodegas Valduero is a family-owned estate in the Ribera del Duero appellation, a region that has earned its reputation through uncompromising winemaking and a climate that demands the best from its grapes. The estate’s approach has always prioritised patience over convenience. Their Gran Reserva wines are aged before release, and the results carry the kind of depth and structure that only time and good raw material can produce. For a family business that cares about provenance and craft, Valduero represents exactly the kind of producer worth knowing.
Why We Import Valduero
At Casa Di Vini, Italy has always been at the heart of what we do. But our range has grown to reflect something broader: a genuine belief that exceptional wine is made in many places, and that hospitality buyers deserve access to the best of all of them.
Spain’s Ribera del Duero is one of the world’s great wine regions, and Valduero is among its most serious estates. When we look for producers to add to our wine range, we are looking for quality that is consistent, provenance that is clear, and wines that can hold their own on a serious list.
Valduero meets all three. Their bottles sit comfortably alongside our Italian labels, our Argentine selections, and our wines from Chile, France, and New Zealand, as part of a range built for buyers who want genuine depth, not just breadth.
What The Sunday Times Said
The feature centred on an extraordinary tasting experience at the estate, where guests explored the Valduero range. The piece reflected on how the setting and the sensory environment heightened the experience of the wines themselves with several bottles receiving particular attention.
The rare Blanco, made from Albillo and aged on its lees, was noted for its complexity while the Gran Reserva wines were described in terms of their concentration, their layered structure, and a finish that rewards patience. It was generous, thoughtful coverage, grounded in the wines rather than the spectacle.
The Wines Available Through Casa Di Vini
Our range includes a selection of Valduero wines available to the trade. Among the options we currently stock you’ll find the likes of:
- Valduero Blanco Criado Sobre Lias (13%): A 100% Albillo aged on its lees, producing a creamy, textured white with genuine complexity and a character rare in the appellation.
- Valduero Tierra Alta Reserva de 2 Cotas (14%): A structured red with the depth and balance that Ribera del Duero does so well. Well suited to a serious food menu.
- Valduero Tierra Alta Gran Reserva (14%): The estate at its most ambitious, with the concentration, layered structure, and longevity to hold its own on any fine wine list.
These are examples of what Valduero offers rather than the full picture. If you would like to explore the range in more detail, we are very happy to talk through what might suit your menu or your cellar.
